Adoption Event #4: Dogwood Classic 5k

By |

Meet Calamity Jane!

For our fourth event, we’re trying something brand new. All of our dogs this time are very energetic and would make great running partners. So where better to find them new homes than at a KTC 5k race? The Hard Knox Pizza Dogwood Classic 5k begins and ends at the parking lot with the bathrooms in Sequoyah Park at 2250 Cherokee Blvd. (For some extra funds, you can sign up for the race here: https://runsignup.com/Race/TN/Knoxville/DogwoodClassic5K)

We invite you out to meet the dogs who are participating in class this session. Some may be on home visits with potential adopters by this time. They are looking for their fur-ever homes! They will be through their third week of class, so they’ll be happy to show off their new skills.

In this session, we have Calamity Jane, (pictured right) plus Annie Oakley,  Maverick, and Whistle. (Do you like our Old West theme??)

All dogs are medically screened, fully vaccinated, microchipped, on heartworm preventative, and will have beginner basic obedience training at the end of their 4-week course. We are accepting applications and will work on home visits during classes.

All dogs will be able to go to their new homes on Friday, May 3rd after graduation.

All breeds and ages are the best guesses from our Dog Selection Committee and Veterinarian.

This event is rain or shine.

By | News, Photo Gallery | No Comments

What a great class this session! The dogs were wonderful, the kids learned a lot, and our volunteers are always the best! The dogs were doing so well with their training that the kids added in some fun tricks as well. We had some learning to Shake or High Five, some learning the belly crawl, and some rollover!

Both Asha and Jazzie have been adopted since graduation and are settling in nicely with their new families. We are looking for the right match for Barbie, Ken, and Midge. You can Contact us to set up a meeting or check out our Facebook page to see where they’ll be visiting on the weekends.

If you are looking for a new four-legged friend, we are accepting Applications at this time for the current class. We will be reviewing applications and conducting home visits while classes are in progress.
