Adoption Event #4: Elst Brewery

Swift is eager to please and enthusiastic! She is approximately 10 months old, 33lbs, and guessing lab/terrier mix

Our fourth event will be at Elst Brewery. We invite you out to meet the dogs that will be participating in class this session. Some may be on home visits with potential adopters by this time. They are looking for their furever homes! They will be through their third week of class, so they’ll be happy to show off lots of their new skills.

This session we have Clooney, Dolly, Ginger, Heugan (Heugh), and Swift. They had their photo shoot this week and we’ll post pictures as soon as they’re available!

All dogs are medically screened, fully vaccinated, microchipped, on heartworm preventative, and will have beginner basic obedience training at the end of their 4-week course. We are accepting applications and will work on home visits while classes are going on. All dogs will be able to go to their new homes on Friday, April 21st  after graduations.

All breeds and ages are the best guess from our Dog Selection Committee and Veterinarian.

Heughan (aka Heugh) is a friendly handsome young red heeler mix. He is approximately a year old and 27lbs.

Our third event will be at Ijams Nature Center outside of the visitor center. We invite you out to meet our new “Fab 5” that will be participating in class this session. They are looking for their furever homes! They will be through their second week of class, so you’ll be able to see more of their new skills.

This session we have Clooney, Dolly, Ginger, Heugan (Heugh), and Swift. They had their photo shoot this week and we’ll post pictures as soon as they’re available!

Ginger loves to dance, dance, dance! She is a happy dog who’s tail is always wagging. She is approximately 2 years, 32lbs, and boxer/hound mix.

No April Fools here! Our second event will be at The Bark Indoor Dog Park and Beer Garden. We invite you out to meet our new “Fab 5” that will be participating in class this session. They are looking for their furever homes! They will be through their first week of class, so you’ll be able to see some of their new skills.

Miss Dolly is friendly, loves a good belly rub, and very positive. She is approximately 2 years, 25 lbs, beagle/heeler mix.

Welcome Spring! Our first event will be at the beautiful Meadow View Greenhouse and Garden Center. We invite you out to meet our new “Fab 5” that will be participating in class this session. They are looking for their furever homes! They will be starting classes on March 27th so their skills will be minimal to start.

This session we have Clooney, Dolly, Ginger, Heugan (Heugh), and Swift.

All dogs are medically screened, fully vaccinated, microchipped, on heartworm preventative, and will have beginner basic obedience training at the end of their 4-week course.

We are accepting applications and will work on home visits while classes are going on. All dogs will be able to go to their new homes on Friday, April 21st  after graduations.

Spring 2023 Class Session

We have chosen the “Fab Five” for the spring session, and they have their photo shoot early this week! We partnered with Young-Williams Animal Center this session.

They are with our vet, Dr. John Shaw at Ideal Veterinary Hospital getting the last of their medical needs taken care of. They will move to PetSafe later next week to get ready for classes to start.

Our first adoption event is Sunday, March 26th, and classes start that week! If you are looking for a new four-legged friend, we will be accepting Applications once we post photos. If you are interested in volunteering, check out our Volunteer page to learn more.

Fundraiser: “E.T. :The Extra-Terrestrial” Movie and Contest! (#3)

To kick off our spring session, we are partnering with our friends at Central Cinema again for a special screening of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. : The Extra-Terrestrial! There will also be an Out of This World Costume Contest for dogs dressed as aliens, not aliens dressed as ghosts 🙂

We hope you will come out to watch this classic movie and support H.A.L.T. There will be three screenings; one Friday, one Saturday and one Sunday. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to our program to support the spring 2023 class.

H.A.L.T. representatives will be on hand to talk about what we do, and share information about the dogs available for adoption in our spring class and upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Central Cinema is a community movie house located in the heart of North Knoxville’s Happy Holler neighborhood. They offer a schedule of films, series, and special events seven nights a week.

Gift Wrapping Fundraiser

We can wrap the strange shapes too!

It’s never to early to get in the spirit of the holidays! HALT’s elves will be back at Mast General Store ready to lend a helping hand this holiday season!

We will be available to wrap gifts on December 16th, 17th, and 18th. We can wrap your purchases from Mast, or you can bring in a gift from somewhere else. We’ll have a wide variety of wrapping papers that you can choose from.
This is one of our largest fundraisers annually, and we look forward to sharing some holiday spirit with you! Donations for gift wrapping are appreciated and will support future HALT classes.

Adoption Event #3: Elst Brewing Company

HALT is celebrating 35 years this season and we’re happy to introduce our Fall 2022 class! Our third event will be outside at  Elst Brewing Company. We invite you out to meet our new “Fab 5” that will be participating in class this session. They are looking for their furever homes! They will be through two weeks of class so they’ll be able to show off more skills. Come by to meet the dogs, enjoy some good food and a tasty beverage!

All dogs are medically screened, fully vaccinated, microchipped, on heartworm preventative, and will have basic obedience training at the end of their 4-week course. We are accepting applications and will work on home visits while classes are going on. All dogs will be able to go to their new homes on October 7th after graduations.
