Adoption Event #3: Elst Brewing Company

By |

HALT is celebrating 35 years this season and we’re happy to introduce our Fall 2022 class! Our third event will be outside at  Elst Brewing Company. We invite you out to meet our new “Fab 5” that will be participating in class this session. They are looking for their furever homes! They will be through two weeks of class so they’ll be able to show off more skills. Come by to meet the dogs, enjoy some good food and a tasty beverage!

All dogs are medically screened, fully vaccinated, microchipped, on heartworm preventative, and will have basic obedience training at the end of their 4-week course. We are accepting applications and will work on home visits while classes are going on. All dogs will be able to go to their new homes on October 7th after graduations.

All breeds and ages are the best guess from our Dog Selection Committee and Veterinarian.

Fundrasier: Screening of “Scooby-Doo” (#3)

By |

“Ruh-roh, Raggy! H.A.L.T. is celebrating 35 years this fall!”

To kick this season off, we are partnering with our friends at Central Cinema again for a special screening of Scooby-Doo!

This film is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary since it hit the big screen. We hope you will come out to watch this funny movie, grab a Scooby-snack, and support H.A.L.T.

There will be three screenings; one Friday, one Saturday and one Sunday. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to our program to support the fall 2022 class.

H.A.L.T. representatives will be on hand to talk about what we do, and share information about the dogs available for adoption in our fall class and upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Central Cinema is a community movie house located in the heart of North Knoxville’s Happy Holler neighborhood. Following a year of COVID-19 closure, they are now back to (more or less) full speed, offering a schedule of films, series, and special events seven nights a week.

Update on Spring 2022 Class

By | Fundraiser, News, Photo Gallery

We are happy to share that Tino, Livvie, Millie, Marigold and Franklin have all been adopted! They graduated May 5th, and most went to their new homes within a couple of days. We have heard great things about them settling in and seeing cute pictures.

It took us a little longer to find the right fit for Franklin. We always want to be sure that once they graduate they find their forever home (as best we can) as we don’t want them to be bounced back. We were patient, and his perfect fit found him. He’s making himself at home and loving life. Thanks to all of you that spent the extra time sharing his posts and information to help make that happen.

We had a great session with several new fundraising events to help support the program. We had movie night hosted by our friends at Central Cinema,  a raffle with items donated by Elst Brewery, Mast General Store, K9 Center of East TN, The Bark, and Central Cinema plus fundraiser hosted by Elst Brewery and Steamboat Subs, and a local garden club plant sale.

All of these businesses donated a portion of sales during the event/day to H.A.L.T. We greatly appreciate these businesses for their support and those that came out to support HALT at these businesses!! We look forward to partnering with these and other local businesses in the future.

Thank you to all of our volunteers, sponsors and supporters for helping us do what we love and helping to make a difference in the lives of these kids and dogs in the program.
